Sheldon
built The Grey Gables Mansion in 1888. His son Sheldon, Jr. inherited the home
when Sheldon, Sr. died. Sheldon Sr's other son Melvin inherited the
home in 1921. Mel died in 1921, leaving the house to his wife Georgia
and children - Betty, Mel, and Teasie (pictured here with her son
Terry). They lived in the home until 1943 when it was sold. |

Sheldon Boright, Sr. was born in
Frelighsburgh, Quebec on April 29, 1832. He came to Richford in 1869 and
established a general store and engaged in various business enterprises.
In 1890, he started a creamery. He also became a dealer in dry goods,
ready made clothing, groceries, boots, shoes, flour, salt, nails, etc.
He was the Director of the Richford Savings Bank & Trust Company. In
1903, he constructed the Boright Block, corner of Main and River
Streets.
